Judge of the Court of probates in and for the parish of East Baton Rouge, State of Louisiana The petition of Joel Edding residing in said state & parish, Tutor to his minor children William, and Kenneth Eadings -- Respectfully Represents that the Family meeting ___ before John L. Talbot a justice of the peace an ___ 4 " day of October 1836 pursurant to the ____ this Hon. Court. advise(d) that your petitioner as Tutor to the aforesaid minors should be authorized to accept with the Benefit of Inventory the succession of John C. McRae which advises to said minors by apporation (?) of Law. They further advise that a sale made of the negro boy "Green" which belonged to said minors which was sold to H.I. Perkins because said boy was under ten years of age, and was motherless and as H.I. Perkins at the probate sale of Kenneth L. and _____ Chaney his wife had purchased his Father and as an act of Humanity it was deemed advisable to sell said boy -----. Wherefore your petitioner prays that the deliberating Family meeting a certified copy been here unto and as a part of this petition be Homologated and made the ____ment of this Court. That your petitioner be authorized to accept of the succession of John C. McRae in behalf of his minor children with the Benefits of Inventory and that the sale of the negro boy be ratified and confirmed. (Signed) J.C. Elam (?) Succession of John C. McRae, No. 545, EBR, La. In pursance of the petition of Joel Eddings relating to the succession of John C. McRae deceased. The following members composing a family meeting duly assembled and Sworn, Viz, Wm. Noble, J.I.(?) B. Chaney, Wm. White, Abraham Eddins and A.H. Turbeville a mature deliberation say that it is proper that Joel Edding should accept the succession of John C. McRae on behalf of his minor children with the __ of Inventory now in the possession of George E. Chaney his tutor during his natural life time and that George E. Chaney on and ___ said estate or succession shall be released from any further responsibility as John C. McRae's tutor. And further that the sale made of a negro boy named "Green" which belonged to the minors William and Kennith and sold by the tutor Joel Eddins shall be confirmed fully and effectually. Sworn to this statement 4th day of October 1836.
