                    1907 Baton Rouge City Directory





                                                                         Introductory



In presenting  Volume IV  of the Baton Rouge City Directory,   the  publishers  do so with two

main objects  in view, viz: Completeness and Accuracy. First to give all the information that may

be reasonably expected, and found in any city directory, and then to give it with the nearest

possible approach of accuracy.

                                                                    POPULATION 26,662

                      In our canvass we have included all the suburbs, and find Baton Rouge has a

population today of 26,662 . 

 

The future of Baton Rouge of today is assured; with her immense wholesale trade, numerous

manufacturing industries, with the new  steel bridge in the near future to span the Mississippi

River at Baton Rouge connecting the traffic of the west with the Gulf of Mexico,  with her great

system of railroads, and other varied branches of commerce, substantial business house, state

capitol building, Louisiana state university , magnificient business and public buildings and

luxurious homes , beautiful churches of every denomination, excellent system of public and

private schools and colleges miles of beautiful paved streets, and the concomitants that go to the

making of great cities, offer  inducements for the investment of capital, as a place of business

manufacturers and residence . 



In conclusion we beg to return our most cordial thanks to those who have so generously given us

their support. and to them we hereby dedicate this work.  To the public generally who have kindly

aided us in  getting up the date, etc., we return our acknowledgements. To our patrons and the

public in general we promise to make each succeeding volume of the City  Directory more worthy

of commendation  and patronage.
