Died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was 84, born in New Orleans to Ella O'Conner, who was of New Orleans, and George N. McAlister Sr. He retired from NOPSI in 1982, where he was manager of training and development, and was president of the American Association of Training and Development. He served as president of Toastmasters International and as president of City Park Golf Club. He was a 1971 graduate of Tulane University. During World War II, he rose to the rank of captain and received the Bronze Star. Upon retiring, he and his wife, Corinne, lived in Niceville, Fla., and were members of Rocky Bayou Country Club for many years. Survived by two sons, George McAlister III and his wife, Jan Fouquette McAlister, of Forest Lake, Minn., Kenneth Joseph McAlister and his wife, Karen Wilkoff McAlister, of Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clare Boh of Mandeville. George was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Corinne Delery McAlister. Memorial Mass will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003.
