ANDERSON, ROBERT EUGENE "BOBBY" A retired supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service, Chicago, and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died at 7:19 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was employed with Portland Cement Association for 25 years and was a graduate of Delta State College. DUCHEIN, JR. CHARLES F. Born in Baton Rouge in 1914, he died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at Biloxi Regional Hospital, Biloxi, Miss. He was 83. He was a major general with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He was a veteran of World War II and highly decorated for distinguished service. His citations include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart. SVOREN, STEPHEN MICHAEL A resident of Baton Rouge, he died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998, at his home following an extended illness. He was 85, born Aug. 13, 1913, in Budapest, Hungary. He came to the United States with his family at the age of six and settled in Buffalo, N.Y. He was retired from East Baton Rouge City Parish and a member of Operating Engineers Local 409. Interment in Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery. He was a veteran of World War II. He graduated from Northeastern College and attended LSU. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, past president of AFL-CIO Council No. 17, past secretary of the Baton Rouge Central Trades and Labor Council, charter member and former co-chairman of Baton Rouge Sheltered Workshop, member of the President’s and Governor’s Committee on Employment of the Handicapped, board member of Community Advancement Inc., member of the City Parish Hospitalization Committee, director of Training and Employment of Community Correction and Rehabilitation Center, member of the committee on Manpower Development and Training, served on the committee for Earl K. Long Charity Hospital, served on the Baton Rouge Safety Program, and was a member of the American Legion and Zoar Baptist Church. At the age of 75, upon receiving his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Texas in San Antonio, he returned to his homeland to teach English as a member of the Peace Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Szvoren; a sister, Mary Szvoren Szalay; and two brothers, George and Johnnie Szvoren. He is survived by Ruth Svoren; a sister, Julia Colern; two brothers and a sister- in-law, Paul Szvoren and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Szvoren, all of Buffalo. He has four children, two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Julia Svoren, Kenner, and Jerry and Darilyn Svoren, Baton Rouge; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Ray Jowers, Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Shirley and Kenneth Browning, Baton Rouge. "PaPa" has seven grandchildren and their spouses, David and Jean Svoren, Fort Worth, Texas, Debbie and Matt Brown, Houston, Scott and Jayna Stikeleather, Gulf Breeze, Donna Svoren, Kenner, Dustin Browning and Madeline and Raymond Svoren, all of Baton Rouge; and a great-grandchild, Alexis Ashton Stikeleather, Gulf Breeze.
