He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. Religious service at Miller & Daughter Mortuary, Zachary, on Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Floyd Matthews. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by a sister, Rosalee Clark and husband Joe, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; nephews, Theodore J. Morgan and wife Barbara, and Harold J. Horton, all of Baton Rouge, Augustus Johnson Jr. and James Johnson, both of New York; and nieces, Ceola J. Beauchamp and husband Edgar, of Baker, Marilynn J. Stokes and husband Charles, Marietta J. Franklin and husband Larry and Gloria Johnson, all of Baton Rouge, and Margaret Stowe and husband Garnett, of Maryland. He was a member of St. Mathews Baptist Church in Norfolk, Va.
