Carl B. McCoy, 23, will be held at Little Zion Baptist Church, 128 Academy St., Opelousas, on Saturday, July 19. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until the funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Charles E. Bryant, pastor, and the Rev. Braylon Harris, of Evergreen Baptist Church in DeQuincy, will deliver the eulogy. Interment in Bellevue Memorial Park with full military rites. He was born Oct. 15, 1984, in Opelousas to Garner Louis McCoy and Trena Yeates McCoy. A native of Maringouin, he later lived in DeQuincy and was a resident of Clarksville, Tenn. After graduating from DeQuincy High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served two tours of duty in Iraq and had been stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and great- grandparents. Survived by his wife, Sgt. Margaret "Maggie" McCoy; son, Kharry McCoy; five aunts, the Rev. Janie McCoy, Latisha McCoy Bowman, Harriett McCoy Kemp, Sandra Landry and a special and beloved aunt who was like a mother to him, Ethel Marie Yeates and husband Donald Fisher, of DeQuincy; two great- aunts; a great-great-aunt; nine sisters and brothers; two special cousins, Alinga Fisher and Sadari Fisher; godparents, John and Juliann Simien; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and acquaintances.
