Harvey was born on Dec. 13, 1923, and was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge where he retired from Fox-Meyer Drug Co. He served in World War II and the Korean War. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Deanie Nix. Survived by his wife, Lena S. Nix, of Texarkana, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Richard Long; a son, Billy Nix; two grandchildren and their spouses, Richy and Carey Long and Ginger and Todd Keator; and great-grandchildren, Ethan James, Harvey Long and Isabelle Howse Keator. Also survived by stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where he was the sixth-grade Sunday school director and teacher for more than 40 years. Harvey decided to donate his body to science. Therefore, a memorial service conducted by Dr. Ken Ward will be held at First Baptist Church, 529 Convention St., on Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church referencing the Palmer Scholarship Fund, which Harvey helped to establish.
