Prosser Dies in Alexandria Rev.Ralph Hylyon Prosser, 76 years old and former rector at St. James Episcopal church died at his home in Alexandria Monday night and his funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from St. James Episcopal church, where services were conducted by Rev. W. S. Clark , rector, assisted by Rev. Walter Lennie Smith, Interment Oliver cemetery Pineville. he had been a clergyman of the Episcopal church for many years. It was born in Wilkinson can on the Miss., it was the son of Daniel L. H.Prosser of Richmond VA., and Sarah ut Eleanor Lewis of St. Francisville, La. he was educated at the Sewan?e the Virginia Military , institute and was also a student at Nashota H???ntered the Confederate Army at the age 16 and was a member of Company F. 43RD Virginia cavalry, under Col. John S.Mosby and participated in the battles of Shennandoah Valley Piedmont. in was taken prisoner on 17th birthday October 8th 1864 and was held at Fort Warren, Boston until June 1865. He was married in May 18t85 to Miss Emma Taylor Sandidge of New Orleans and. three daughters were born to this union to of them are still living. They are Mrs. Louise Ball of Alexandria, and Mrs. E. K Sims of Donaldsonville. He also is survived by one sister,Miss May Prosser, who resides near Pineville. Reverend Mr.Prosser was ordained deacon in the Episcopal church by Bishop J.C. Talbot in 1878 he was ordained a priest of the church in 1880 by Bishop Green, and has held a number of important rectorates among which or the Church of the Ascension, Donaldsonville; St Mathew church, Houma; Christ church Mansfield; tSt Stephens church, Williamsport, La. St. James Episcopal church in Baton Rouge and a number of missions in the state.
