He was a U.S. Army veteran and a native of Port Allen. Visiting at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 650 Blount Road, on Wednesday, July 23, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Gus Spurlock. Entombment in Southern Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Ray Anthony Jr. and April Smith, Earl Clifford Smith II, Jermaine Davis and Montreal and Dorothy Blakes; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Priscilla and Aaron Asberry, Hazel D. Williams, Cheryl and Charles Hightower and Anita S. Simmons; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Samuel S.A. and Shirley Smith, Roy Smith, Arlington and Sharon Smith and Joseph O. Smith; 10 grandchildren; two aunts, Gladys Kelly, of Sacramento, Calif., and Dorothy Thomas, of Fontana, Calif.; foster sisters, Annie Ruth Revere, Selina Gail Patin and Marie Hawkins; five faithful friends, Sammie Germany, Authur Wallace, Jimmy Davis, Ronnie Sims and Larry Patin; 24 nieces, 15 nephews, 26 great-nieces, 37 great-nephews and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel L. and Mable Joseph Smith; siblings, Myrtle M. Smith, Sylvia Freeman, Earl Clifford Smith and Mary S. Carney; and grandparents, Albert and Mable Nevels and Mary Ella Johnson. Pallbearers will be Aaron E. Asberry, Paul Carney Jr., Gary Gaines, Jamal Gray, Eugene Hulbert, William Simmons, Charles Thomas, Waleed Simmons, Cedric Smith, Chad Smith, Edwin Smith, Jahveh Smith, Joseph Smith, Kirk Smith and Terry K.
