She graduated from high school and Soulé Business College in New Orleans and was employed by the Pullman R.R. Co., where she met her husband Jack. After her marriage, she became a fulltime homemaker and mother. The family moved to Baton Rouge in 1962 due to her husband's transfer with the U.S. Customs Service. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church for many years. Edith will be remembered most by those who loved her for her very sweet spirit and kind heart, her deep belief and reliance on God, her wonderful smile, her love of people, especially babies and small children and her love of tap dancing and music. She was a delight to all who knew her, taught us all many lessons about life and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Hebert L. "Jack" Wiggins; parents, Charles and Helen Anepohl; and brother, Charley Anephol. Survived by her two daughters, Patricia "Patsy" Shaw and her husband, Neli Shaw, and Lynn Wiggins and her partner, Marna Manning; two nieces, Louise Loyd and her husband, Larry Loyd and Gay Anepohol Yarbrough and her husband, Max Yarbrough III; great- niece, Sarah Yarbrough; nephew, John D. Stewart; and cousin, Marie B. Ewing. The family of Edith Wiggins wishes to express their love and deep appreciation to Vertabell "Bert" Lanehart, Edith's devoted caregiver of four years. Mrs. Lanehart's loving care of Edith made it possible for her to remain at home throughout her illness and she has become one of the family. Appreciation and gratitude is also extended to the nursing staff and caregivers of St. Joseph's Hospice during Edith's last months of her life. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, July 22, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until funeral service in the chapel at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Merlin Liverman. Graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
