"Joe" Yglesias, 87, a resident of Baton Rouge, died at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Ochsner Medical Center. He was raised in Costa Rica. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the Signal Corps. He was also retired president/owner of Ike Smith Electric Inc. and a member of IBEW Local 995. He was a member of St. Gerald Parish. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Monday, July 21, from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife of 69 years, Geraldine M. Yglesias; his brother, Lewis F. Yglesias; his sister, Clara Odio; his son, Pat Yglesias and his wife, Sue; three grandchildren, Mike Yglesias and wife Candy, Brad Yglesias and wife Tonya, and Pam Blanchard and husband Shane; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Kylie and Blake. Preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo and Clara Booker Yglesias; his brother, Bernard Yglesias; his sister, Amalia Bujol; and his sons, Joseph J. Yglesias Jr. and Michael R. Yglesias. Pallbearers will be Mike and Brad Yglesias, Pam and Shane Blanchard, Herman Chandler and Mike Armanini.
