Henderson was born around 1826 in Baton Rouge and was son of Stephen Henderson who was "Magistrate" (Mayor) of Baton Rouge in the mid 1830s. This picture was taken in New Orleans as the first wave of volunteers left Baton Rouge to "rescue" our American Troops in Mexico in 1846. Francis G. Henderson will become editor of the Baton Rouge Gazette in 1847 and will marry Lucretia Calvit Cheatham, also from Baton Rouge. He will die in Missouri in 1862 fighting for the South.
