JOSEPH CATHEDRAL FUNERAL RECORDS 1818-1832 The funeral records of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, begin with the foundation of the parish church of St. Joseph in 1793, and are in the custody of the Department of the Archives, Diocese of Baton Rouge, in Baton Rouge. Most of the funeral entries are quite brief, but many yield information as to the origin of the deceased, and other genealogical data, not all of which could be included in the following published abstract. Most entries are for inhabitants of East and West Baton Rouge, but there are several mentions of persons from Pointe Coupee, Bayou Sara, Iberville, and elsewhere.
