Belden, Deputy Recorder. Recorded in Notorial Book N Pages 267-268 United States of America, State of Louisiana, Parish of Carroll Be it known this day before me, A.G. Belden,Deputy Recorder duly appointed and sworn personally came and appeared, Creed T. Motley, Walter T.C. Anderson, George Washinton, Jefferson Taylor, Levi Johnson, Monroe Holcombe, all residents of the Parish of Carroll and state of Louisiana, that they do hereby form themselves into a corporation to acquire and enjoy the rights, privilege and powers of a body of corporation, under the provision of an act of the Legislative of Louisiana approved March 14, 1855 entitled as a act for the corporation of societies for Litertary, Scientific and Religious purposes. Act I The title of this corporation shall be a Board of Trustries for holding property for school and religious purposes in the town of Floyd, Louisiana. Act II The objects of this corporation, to hold acquired lands, houses, or other property for the use and enjoyment of all residents of this Parish, without distinction of race, color or previous conditions, for the purpose of a school and public worship. So being especially intented to secure a house to be used as a school house and a place of divine worship, free to all persons without distinction of race, color or previous condition. Act III The Domicle of this corportation shall be at Floyd, Carroll Parish, La. Act IV The members shall constituent a aquorum, shall be a Board of Trusteee and they shall elect from their own members at their first meeting, a president, secretary who shall also act as a treasury and shall hold their offices for one year until their successors are chosen. The board of Trustees shall have power to remore said officers at any time, by 2/3 majority vote. The property shall be held and the suits brought and defended in the name of the President and Trustees of the aforesaid Corp-Citations shall be served on the President at his usual resident. This corporation shall continue for ninety -nine years. Witness, who hereto sign their names, with me the Deputy Recorder of said parties on this 5th day of November 1869. Attest H. J. Cheatmen H.
