November 9,1889 We went out to the school house last Monday in company with Mr. W.S. Brown, the Parish Superintendent, and received a cordial welcome from Mr. Vincent, Miss Mattie Kell and Miss Dessie Bell, the teachers. It was a pleasure to look around and see so many bright faces busy over their books, and keeping such good order. The geometry class was called up, and it was not long before the sup't got mixed up with Master Moreau Purdy and an equilateral triangle. Some of the scholars in this class are quite young to be so far advanced, and it is much credit of Mr. Vincent, that the class is making such headway. From the principal's room, we went into Miss Mattie's, who had just sailed up the Atlantic ocean with Miss Jomay Egelly, and was landing on the shores of Massachusetts. Miss Matttie has been teaching in the public school ever since our boyhood days. Thus was an hour spent in a profitable manner, and hope it will be our good fortune to again visit the schoolhouse, where the scenes of our childhood carry us back to bygone days- days which truly seem the brightest, treasured up in our memory as a priceless legacy, binding us to the golden hours of life by the external tie of love.
