December 9, 1904 With drawn Revolvers the Highwaymen Commanded the Spondulies Forthwith Mr. John Cassell, an attache of the A.G. Cassell Estate Drug firm of Vicksburg, Miss., while returning one night last week to Delhi from Floyd, after a collecting trip, was hold up and robbed about five miles from Delhi. Mr. Cassell was not armed and when he was suddenly halted by two men with drawn revolvers and ordered to "climb down out of that" there was nothing else to do but submit. The robbers then proceeded to rifle his pockets, securing about $128. Fortunately he had placed several hundred dollars in a satchel, and this which he left in the buggy concealed under the lap robe during the hold-up, was over looked by the robbers. The men were not masked and Mr. Cassoll distinguished that they were white, though the darkness and overhanging shrubbry rendered recognition impossible. Such occurrences were formerly quite frequent along this road, but of late years the reformation of the inhabitants has not been compete, and this unfortnate incident will, doubtless, serve as a warning in the future to all travlers on this road to be prepared for such eventualies. Corner Stone Laying Postponed The ceremonies of laying the corner stone of the new Methodist Church, which was suppose to taken place last Sunday afternoon, have bee postponed to some future date, not yet named. Dr. Murrah, who was to have assisted Pecan Grove Lodge, No. 222, A.F. & A.M., in laying the corner stone, was in the city on that day, but the exdtremely inclement weather rendered the carrying out of the proposed program impracticable. It will be gratifying to the menbers of the Methodist congregation and other interested citizens to return to assist in the ceremonies on any future day that may be appointed.
