November 8, 1890 After a long life of 70 years,, the above old gentleman passed away last Monday at his residence on Levee Street. He had been an invaild for at least six months previous to his deah, which was a relief to his wearied frame, exhausted and reduced as it was to a mere shell. Mr. Hook was one of the oldest citizens of East Carroll He came from Morehouse Parish about the year 1841, and had been living here ever since, being engaged off and on in the mercantile and farming avocations. In his palmy he was a well-to-do man, and stood well among his contemoraries. He always been considered a good citizen and wa never guilty of any act of disapprobation. But with old age came misfortunes and and almost ever since the close of the war, especially for the last fifteen or twenty years, he has been in reduced circumstances. His extractin was unquestionable, for his relatives were among the best of Carroll's antebellum citizens. He leaves behind two daughters to mourn his loss. He remains were interred in the Providence Cemtery Tuesday evening, at 4 O'clock, servies being performed at the Medthodist Church. The sympathies of the Banner are extended to his bereaved family in their affiction; but there is a comfort in the thought that his body now is out of pain, his soul is out of prison.
