April 8, 1875 The river will not rise much higher this place this year. But old Town is under water. The new town authorities are doing vry well considering the limited abount of money at their command. Push the amended charter through at the extra session, Senator Gla, and we'll bless you. Rev. N. S. Cornell is the able minster assigned to this circuit by the M.E. Church South for this year. His appointments are as follows : In Providence 1st and 3rd Sundays; at Pecan Grove 2nd and 4th Sunday. St. Paul said "Heed this, ye churchmen." The zealous Rector of Grace Church (Episcopal) is ever at his post, preching every Sunday without fail. Mr. Christian is greatly esteemed by his Parishioners, and by the Community generally. But regligon may be said to be at low ebb in Providence. An unfortunate selection was made however in the location of Grace Church, as during the rainy season many were totally debarred from attending church by reason of the mud across the break. We are delighted to learn that the Rev. Father Quilard has been ordered to return and ake charge of the Catholic congregation at this place. This is indeed good news to his parishioners.
