May 18, 1906 The delegates from the Edward Sparrow Chapter of the U.D.C. Who attended the State Convention held in Monroe last week, were thoroughly charmed with the city and became enthuslastic admirers of the people, of who hospitality and courtesy they speaj in words of unstinted praise. The damage to the residence of J.L. Fischer by the storm on May 4th was satisfactorily settled by check on May 12th. This little instance shows the value of a tornado policy. Only $2.50 per $1000.00 The Hartford Ins. Co. Frank Byerley, Agt. The Louisiana division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy adjourned Friday after a four-day session in the city of Monroe. Mrs. D.S.A. Vaught was reelected President and Mrs. W.N. White, of this city, was elected Corresponding Secretary, an office which she held a few years ago. The place chosen for the next convention was Baton Rouge. Mr. John B. Palmer, after a lingering illness died at his home Tuesday morning at 5 o'clock. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock from the residence to the Providence cemetery, Rev. A.S.J. Neill, pastor of the Methodist church, performing the last sad rites. Mr. Palmer leaves a wife and four little daughters to whom the Sentry extends its sincerest sympathy, in their bereavement.
