December 9, 1904 A Contract for Electric and Water Works, Has Great onfidence in the City's Future Mr. Sanders, contractor for the Electric Light and Water Works System, is in the city preparatory to the construction of the plant. Mr. Sanders is favorably impressed with our city and intends making his headquarters at this place. He says that, if everything turns out as favorably as the present indication seems to warrant, he will construct and electric car line from the city to the depot. Mr Sanders thinks this city has a bright future and has already manifested a very enterprising spirit in its welfare. Our enterprising citizenship gladly welcome Mr. Sanders to our city and will join him in all movements calculated to advance our interests. Rev. Wright Transferred Rev. Barnette Wright, who has been pastor of the Methedist Church of this city, for the past year, has received a communication from Bishop Morrison stating that, at the suggestion of Bishop Key, he had been transferred from the Louisiana Conference, though to what Conference he will be assigned is not yet known. This intelligence will, doubtless, be the occasion of some surprise and much disappointment to the Methodist congregation, who, while never being able to predict with certainty the appointments to be made at Conference, never the less, felt reasonably secure of Rev. Wright's continued pastorate for at least another year. Rev, Wright has not only filled the pulpit with great ability, but has performed the many other duties that devolved upon him faithfully and earnestly, and his removal will cause deep regret among the members of his congregation and his many other friends, whose good wishes, however, will attend him wherever his future pastorate may be assigned.
