Mobley http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00028.html#0006760 July 25, 2010, 3:17 pm Delhi Chroicle March 8, 1873 The first number of a weekly paper, under the title will be issued, in the town of Delhi, on or about the first day of Oactober, 1872, and now is the time to send in your names, in order to commence with the first number of the paper. Having procured the services of some of the writers in the South, the purpose of the proprietor is not merely to make it a Live, Local, Country Paper, but a First Class Family Journal, that will be a credit to the country and a welcome visitor to every Fireside, Workshop, Office and Counting Room in North Louisiana or any where else it may find its way, as it will, besides giving the current news of the day, be devoted to the encouragement of all the Industrial Pursuits. Intellectual, Agricultural and Mechanical, the development of the resources of this portion of the Great Mississippi Valley, and the promotion of the Religious, Moral and Social Virtures of our intelligent, chivalrous and generous people. Having set his mark high, it will be the constant aim and chief desire of the proprietor to bring and keep this paper up to the highest standard of journalism, worthy of the generous support of a discriminating and appreciative public, upon whom he confidently relies for their cooperation in the enterprise assuring the people that it will always commonsense with the encouragement it receives from them. To this end, he appeals to all who may favor the enterprise, and especially those who desire the prosperity of Delhi and all that pleasant and bequtiful country known as the Macon Ridge, to assist him in procuring for the paper such an extensive circulation and advertising patronage as will justify the expenditure of the money and labor necessary for the establishment of this cherished enterprise upon a permanent and prosperous basis, not only by subscribing and advertising themselves; but influencing others to do likewise. All ministers of the Gospel among whose flocks the paper circulates, will receive a copy regularly free of charge by furnishing their names and post office address. School Teachers and Postmasters requested to solicit subscriptions in their neighborhoods.
