Sub-Headline: Mrs. McBroom 

Mrs. Mattie McBroom, 68, succumbed Friday, June 4, at the local 
East Carroll Parish Hospital following a short illness. 

Funeral services were held Saturday at three o'clock in the 
afternoon from the chapel of the Riser and Son Funeral home in 
Columbia. 

Interment followed at Pinehill Cemetery near Olla. 

Survivors include her husband, James Monroe McBroom, Sr., of Lake 
Providence; four sons, Yancy M. Zeagler of Lake Providence, 
C. M. McBroom of West Monroe, James Monroe McBroom, Jr., 
of Shreveport, and Billy McBroom of Monroe; two sisters, 
Mrs. Nora Willis of Oak Grove and Mrs. Billie Brewer of 
Freeport, Texas; two brothers, Floyd Knighten of Jonesville 
and Lloyd Knighten of Vidalia; and eight grandchildren. 

(NOTE:  Mattie Thomas Knighten was born July 18, 1894 in 
Webster Parish LA to Jesse and Lizzie KNIGHTEN.)
