Mr. Jacob Owen, had resided in Old Carroll for many years. He died at a mature age, on the Gossyppi Plantation, in the 5th ward. His funeral took place at noon. The religious services over his remains were conducted by the Rev. P.S. Isbell, the members of Pecan Grove Lodge, following with their impressive Masonic Funeral Rituial. Nearly all the people of Bunchs Bend were present with providence and the lake neighborhood fairly represented. The presence of so maany of our best people of both sexes to take part in the last rites was evidence that he was held in high esteem while living. His body was placed in a vault temporally. It is the intention of his family to remove it to its finial resting place in Kentucky.
