Carroll Banner newspaper "Our editor is in the Bend (Bunches Bend area) this week attending the wedding of Miss Mary Quays, which took place Thursday. A full account of it will appear in the Banner next Week." ----------------------------------------------------- May 4, 1889........ Carroll Banner newspaper: ------------------------ HYMENIAL ---------------------- QUAYS-ZETTEL One of the prettiest home weddings which has ever taken place in East Carroll, was the marriage of Miss Mary Quays and Mr. Frederick Zettel on the 25th of April, at the home of the bride's parents--Robertdale. How the wedding bells do echo sweet tunes in the hearts of young and old, -----------------"All the world loves a lover;" Therefore, the good people in the Bend were joyful and happy, at the ceremony, which was to give their only young lady away, to a gentleman of a distant State. The bride's girl friends had been busy with nimble fingers weaving garlands to grace the festival. The color and perfume of rare flowers filled the parlors with an atmosphere of gladness and fragrance. At 9 o'clock the bridal party entered to the strains of Mendellson's wedding march, played by Miss Stewart. Rev. Father Mahe performed the sacramental rite of the Catholic Church, and delivered a short but impressive address upon the sacredness of the contract. The bride is a great favorite among a large circle of friends, and she never looked so happy and handsome as on her wedding night, in an elegant directoire gown of rich white moire silk, with sweeping square train. The corsage was square(?) decollete, embroidered in pearls. Miss Cowan was first maid of honor, and wore a stylish costume of lilac, decorated with ostrich plumes of the same color. Miss Aime Quays, sister of the bride, was junior made of honor, and looked very sweet and charming in a directoire costume of pate blue silk. The groom is a young man of sterling character and fine business capacity. The happy couple has every prospect of the supreme happiness, which the Banner wishes them. Many costly and elegant presents were given the bride, in token of the affection she is held by her friends--Among them were handsome solitaire diamond ear rings from the groom, also presents of silver from Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Montgomery, Mr. Norwood, Mr. Hurly, and many others. The wedding was in a great measure private. About one hundred announcement cards were sent out after the ceremony. The wedding feast was elegant, and beautiful, and heartily participated in by the guests present--among them we observed Judge and Mrs. F.F. Montgomery, and daughter, Miss Philson, Mrs. VanFossen, Dr. and Mrs. Burwell, Dr. and Mrs. Seay, Dr. and Mrs. James Montgomery, Mrs. Snoddy, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Powell, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Ransdell, Miss Alma Egelly, Mr. and Mrs. Patton Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Rea, Mrs. Champlin, Mr. and Miss Embry, Mr. Sam and Miss Dollie Kennedy, Miss Minnie Lanier, and others. The young people danced until a late hour, and the interest among them was the bride. Not a young man present but what took a last waltz with Mrs. Zettel. The happy couple left on Sunday for Cincinnati. (Submitter Note: Marriage License; East Carroll Parish Court House- Lake Providence) ###
