Be it remembered that by virtue of a writ of sale issued from the Parish Court, in and for said Parish and State, to me directed commanding me to sell the property belonging to the Succession of Warren M Benton, known as the Gilliard Place, lying and being in the Parish of Carroll and being fully described by numbers as follows: Lots one and two in Section Fifty-one (51) and Lots Thirty-five (35) and Thirty-six (36) in Section Fifty-two (52), Township Twenty-one. Range Twelve. I advertised said property in the True Republican, the official journal of the Parish to be sold on the premises on Thursday the 13th day of May AD 1875. And on said day and said place at the hour One O'clock PM, I offered for sale all the rights, title and interest of said Succession in said property to wit: One undivided half interest in and to the same, and after crying same for sale in a loud and audible voice, in lots of less than Fifty acres as follows to wit: Lot seven (7) containing Forty acres. Lots One and Two each containing Thirteen acres, more or less. Lot Eight containing Thirty-nine. Lot Ten containing Forty acres. Lot Nine Thirty-nine 15/100 acres. Lot (?) containing Forty acres. Lot Fourteen containing Thirty-nine and 15/100 acres, Lot Fifteen containing Thirty-nine and 15/100, all in Section Fifty-two (52). And Lot Three containing Forty-eight acres, Four containing Twenty-eight acres, Five containing Forty acres, Lot six containing Forty acres, Lot Eleven containing Forty acres and Lot Twelve Forty acres, all in Section Fifty-one. And after crying said lots separately, the same was bid off by John T Hughes through his attorney Field F Montgomery, he being the last and highest bidder and having bid the full amount of the appraisement, to wit: Five dollars per acre amounting in the aggregate to the sum Fourteen Hundred and Ninety Dollars for the said undivided interest of said Succession in and to said property which amount was paid in cash, receipt of which is hereby acknowledged. Now, therefore, by virtue of the authority in me vested as Administrator of the said Succession of Warren M Benton and the said writ of sale and the payment of the bid by said John T Hughes, I do hereby transfer, sell and sign over and deliver unto him all the rights, title and interest of said Succession in and to said property. This done this the 17th day of May AD 1875 in presence of William M Blount and Robert K Jayne, lawful witnesses who sign hereto. Frank Garner ___, Administrator.
