Andrews was born in East Feliciana parish, November 10,1855, received his literary education at Centenary college, and began farming on his own account at the age of eighteen and was first married to Miss Saluda C. Munday, a daughter of Maj. G. W. Munday [see sketch]. To this union were born five children, viz.: Mary, who died in childhood, Worthy E., George C., Alpenia and Saluda C. The mother died a pious member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. Andrews next married Miss Willie Haynes, daughter of Capt. Frank Haynes, now deceased. Mrs. Andrews was educated at Silliman institute. She is the mother of one child, Edward P. Jr., and is a consistent member of the Methodist church. Mr. Andrews is a member of the Knights of Pythias at Clinton, and in politics is a democrat. The family is held in high esteem by the community, who recognize and appreciate their many good traits of character. Biographical and Historical Memoires of Louisiana, (vol. 2), p. 298.
