Derry Ireland. He came to New Orleans, LA in 1853 and settled in Jackson, LA. On Aug. 18,1861, Samuel enlisted in the 11 th La. Infantry, Co. I, at Camp Moore, LA. He was discharged after the Battle of Atlanta. Samuel later married Mary Perkins Tomb, daugther of Andrew S. Tomb and Margaret A. Smith on Nov. 8,1866 in East Feliciana Parish. Samuel and Mary had ten children, seven survived infancy. Those seven were: Maggie, Andrew Spencer, David, John Samuel, Mary Edith, Emmette A. and Charles B. Samuel died Sept. 10,1926 in Jackson, LA. His wife preceded him in death and all seven children were still living.
