Abstracts of some Probate Records, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana ************************************************ Copyright. Slaton, Baker, Louisiana, 09/10/98 On the 31st of October, 1987, I began a project of abstracting the earliest probate records in the courthouse in Clinton, La. The courthouse has the original paper documents in vertical folders, and also a microfilm copy of them made some years before by the Louisiana State Archives. The files are arranged alphabetically by the surname of the deceased (not by date or docket number). It should be noted by the researcher that in some cases additional paper documents were added to the files after the State Archives microfilmed them, so the only way to be certain that all the documents have been acquired is to check the file in the courthouse against the documents on microfilm. In the abstracts I was able to do, any additional documents added after microfilming have been included. My probate abstract project ended with a fire in the courthouse several weeks after I began. The probate records were sent to the State Archives for cleaning, and several years went by before they were returned. The following abstracts were those I was able to do before the fire. Microfilm information: East Feliciana Parish Clerk of Court Probate Court Records NOTE: The project was over 39 pages (133K) of information. In June 2004, Annette Womack [East Feliciana LaGenWeb Archive File Manager split the file into separate files for each docket. The following is a full listing of the 17 files. 1.
