Scott Judge of the Parish aforesaid and ex officio Notary Public in and for the same duly commissioned and sworn personally came and appeared Ann M. Higginbotham of the state and Parish aforesaid who did declare and say that for and in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred dollars lawful money of the United States cash to her in hand paid by Thomas L Andrews of said state and Parish, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. She hath bargained sold and delivered and by these presents doth bargain sell and deliver unto the said Thomas L Andrews, his heirs and assigns, one certain negro woman named Lucy about eighteen years of age, which said negro, the said Ann M Higginbotham warrants to be a slave for life and free from all debilatory vices and defects known to the laws of Louisiana. And does further warrant said negro woman Lucy to the said Thomas L Andrews his heirs and assigns from herself the said Ann M Higginbotham, her heirs and assigns and all and every other person or persons whomsoever. In witness of all which the parties aforesaid sign hereunto granting and accepting in presence of me said Judge and in the that of Alexander Scott Jr and David McCants subscribing witnesses this 5th day of February 1830. The aforesaid Negro was in the state of Louisiana before the 1st day of April 1829 and has remained therein ever since.
