Bryant, of the County of Mercer in the State of Kentucky Agent and Attorney agent for Ann M. Higginbotham now in Kentucky, hath this day bargained sold and delivered and do by these presents bargain sell and deliver unto Caswell Smith of the Parish of East Feliciana & State of Louisiana a certain negro man aged about thirty four years named Goss and his wife Molly aged about twenty eight years with their four children Rachel about seven years of age, Eli aged about five years, John aged about three years and Henry aged about eight months, for the sum of fifteen hundred and seventy five dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge and, and the said Caswell Smith forever requitten there from said negroes I warrant free from all vices prescribed against by Law and do further warrant and defend them from myself heirs and assigns Ann M. Higginbotham her heirs and assigns unto the said Caswell Smith his heirs and assigns in witness Where of I sign these presents in the presence of Elias Boatner and M L Meeker Witnesses this 18th day of January 1831 Elias Boatner Jr. James G. Scott Parish Judge of the Parish aforesaid came Elias Boatner Jr. one of the witnesses to the foregoing Bill of Sale who being duly sworn by me said Judge sayeth that he saw the party to the said Bill of Sale sign the same for the purposes and intentions therein (?) that he saw M.
