Notice: To the Honorable L. Saunders Parish Judge in and for the parish of East Feliciana and State of Louisiana and Ex-officio Judge of this Court of Probate in and for the same... This petition of Robert Taylor and his wife Nancy Brown, she being herein aided appointed(?) and authorized by her said husband, residing in your said parish of East Feliciana, most respectfully represents that this petitioner Nancy is one of the legal forced heirs of James Brown late deceased that said deceased died leaving land, negroes and personal property in said parish and the following children towit: Sally, wife of Abel Taylor, Lurana, wife of Blandan Barnett, Thomas Brown, James Brown, Zachariah Brown, Shepherd Brown, Sylvester Brown, Alverson Brown, Manson Brown, Elisabeth Brown, and petitioner Nancy Taylor. Also left the following grand children of three pre deceased children, Towit: Nelson, Ann, and Rebecca Brown children of Jeremiah Brown and representing him in this estate of his father, who are all minors and have a mother as their natural Tutrine. Towit: Jerusha Brown, widow of Jeremiah Brown. Daniel Brown, Mary, wife of Charles Bohannon, Nancy, wife of Baseter Pool, and Martha, wife of Roderich Tilghman, all of age and present. Also Sarah Patterson, a minor child of William Patterson of the marriage with Martha Brown's daughter Elizabeth who was the daughter of James Brown, who has for her Tutor her father, represent that three of the surviving children of the said James Brown, dec. are minors Towit: Sylvester, Alverson, and Elisabeth Brown and have no Tutor further represents that it is desirable that a partition of this estate be made among the heirs and for that purpose the inception will have to be sold if not being inacceptable of partition, wherefore petitioners pray that experts(?) be appointed to report whether or not said estate can be partaken in kind and if it cannot that this whole be sold and that this land & negroes belonging to said inception so far as the major heirs are interested be sold on one two & three years credit and their share of the personal property be sold on twelve months credit and that a family meeting be assembled (?) of the relatives of said minors to be composed of Shepherd Brown, Manson Brown, Able Taylor, Thomas Brown, Zachariah Brown, James Brown, William Patterson, Joseph Brown, and William (?) who are the proper persons to compose said meeting for the purpose of fixing the terms of sale for that portion coming to the minors, and that a Curator adhoc be appointed for Sylvester, Alverson, and Elisabeth Brown to represent them in this suit for a partition, they having no Tutor nor under(?) Tutor and that the said Sally together with her husband Abel Taylor, Lurana together with her husband, Blandon Barnett, Thomas Brown, James Brown, Zachariah Brown, Shepherd Brown, Manson Brown & Joseph Brown, Curator Adhoc for Sylvester, Alverson, and Elisabeth Brown; Jerusha Brown, Tutrine for Nelson, Ann, and Rebecca Brown, her children, and that Daniel Brown, Mary, the wife of Charles Bohannon together with her husband, Nancy, the wife of Baseter Pool, together with her said husband, and Martha, the wife of Roderick Tilghman, together with her said husband, and William Patterson, Tutor for Sarah Patterson, be cited to appear in your honorable Court of Probate to show cause if any they can why a partition should not be made as prayed for and that said appointments be made and inceptions(?) be sold and the proceeds thereof be divided among the heirs according to law and that all such others and further proceeding be had as law of equity requires and as in duty petitioners will even pray.
