All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** This cemetery is located just across the Rapides Parish line on US Hwy. 167 in Evangeline Parish. After you pass the parish line, go approximately 1.0 mile to the first road on the left (Pratt Cemetery Road), and turn left. Cemetery is just ahead on the left, is fenced and maintained. A large sign over the gate indicates the cemetery was organized in 1886. Tombstone inscriptions were recorded by Jane P. McManus, 17 October 1999. A verse on the back of the James & Betty Pratt Double tombstone near the front of the cemetery reads: I am standing on the Seashore. A ship spreads her sails to the morning breeze and starts for the ocean. I stand watching Her until She fades on the horizon and someone at my side said "She is gone." "Gone where?" The loss of sight is in Me, not in Her, just at the moment when someone says "She is gone." There are others who are watching her coming. Other voices take up the glad shout. Here she comes! "And that is dying."
