Hazelton Cemetery - Evangeline Parish, LA Submitter: Jane McManus Date: 28 Oct 2000 * ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** This small fenced cemetery is on a hunting lease near Cocodrie Lake. At the junction of US Hwy 167 and LA 13 in the center of Turkey Creek, turn west onto Cemetary Road toward Lake Cocodrie. Go approximately 1.8 miles and turn left onto dirt road. This area is all least to various hunting clubs, so stay on the road. Continue to bear to the right at the "Y" for a short distance. The small, fenced cemetery is on the right directly across from the old gravel pit. There are only 10 obvious burials, but the fenced area is large enough for many more graves, that could be lost. Tombstone inscriptions were recorded and submitted by Jane Parker McManus and Mary Parker Partain on 18 October 2000. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [unmarked adult concrete slab - no inscription] [unmarked child concrete slab - no inscription] Hazelton, William W. - 14 Aug 1883 / 26 Mar 1920 Husband -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clark, Hypolite - 22 Feb 1851 / 15 Jul 1903 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Johnson, Abner - 22 Sep 1880 / 24 Oct 1944 Johnson, Alford N. - 31 May 1908 / 3 Aug 1910 [infant burial] Johnson, Amanda - 13 Jul 1886 / 27 Nov 1910 Johnson, Walter - 4 Nov 1903 / 16 Feb 1926 Johnson, Calley - 20 Nov 1910 / 13 Jan 1911 [all identical stones & slabs in a group] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Johnson, Ben H. - 22 Nov 1888 / 15 Oct 1919 [in small fenced area at corner of cemetery] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
