Will Make Needed Repairs and Greatly Beautify "City of the Dead." The Ville Platte Cemetery Committee, sponsored by the Ville Platte Rotary Club, and composed of the following members, G. J. Deville, H. M. LeBas, Adraste Lafleur, J. E. Pucheu, Rotarians; and A. Coreil, Aurelien Landreneau, members of the Town Council, all present, met this day to organize a permanent body, the aims and purposes of which are: 1. To enclose and beautify the old Ville Platte Cemetery and the upkeep of same. 2. To plat out the new portion or north section of said cemetery and amrk grave sites, alleys, walks and drive-ways, etc. 3. To make rules and regulations for the burial of people in said cemetery and to draw specifications for tombs to be constructed in the future and also for the repairing of those now existing. 4. To make a survey of the existing graves and identify those that are marked and, as far as possible, those that are unmarked, and provide ways and means for marking the unmarked graves. 5. To devise ways and means to raise a fund by popular subscription from the general public and especially from the relatives of the people who are buried in said cemetery in order that the last resting place of the pioneers of the Ville Platte community and those who are to follow shall be made a beauty spot, instead of an eye-sore, which is the case in (Continued on page two) IMPROVE CEMETERY (ontinued [sic] from page 1) its present condition. Following is a list of the unidentified graves, according to a survey made by the committee. All donations are to be made to any member of the commitee [sic], or any member of the Rotary Club, and will be turned over to the treasurer of the Ville Platte Rotary Club, to create the Ville Platte Cemetery Fund and will be expended by the Committee.
