Creamer marykcreamer@yahoo.com September 4, 2023, 12:03 am source: Clarion-News (Opelousas, Louisiana) 23 Jun 1923, Sat., page 1 PLAISANCE FARMER ENDS LONG LIFE Damond Deville, aged 78 years, 2 months and 17 days, died at the home of his son-in-law, Police Juror Alex Sylvestre, in the Plaisance section of the fifth ward, at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday night, June 12th, after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were conducted at the Ville Platte Catholic church on Wednesday afternoon with interment in the Ville Platte cemetery at 6 o'clock Wednesday evening, June 13th. Mr. Deville was a native of St. Landry parish and during his life earned his livelihood as a farmer and contractor. He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Alex Sylvestre, Mrs. Henry Lafleur and Mrs. Jack Chapman and two sons, Bothier and J. R. Deville, besides a number of grandchildren and friends to mourn his departure.
