Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 2:30 PM, with Father Mitchell Guidry officiating. Deacon Scott Peyton will pray a rosary on Wednesday at 6:30 PM. Rite of committal will take place at the MB Fontenot Cemetery. Mrs. Rella was a woman known for her strength. She enjoyed going to her fishing camps in St. Landry and Melville. She enjoyed fishing and cooking, and if she knew what you liked to eat she would cook it for you. Mrs. Rella enjoyed the Cajun card game known as Bourre´. Her dog Poco was a cherished companion, and was very special to her. Her memories will live on through her family. Mrs. Rella is survived by her husband, Benjamin Raymond Fontenot, daughter, Darlene Fontenot Swartz and Husband John Philip Swartz of Mamou, sons, Carl Brad Fontenot of Ville Platte and Daniel Ray Fontenot of Belaire Cove, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Adam and Louise Smith, Jr. 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.
