A resident of Ville Platte, Floyd, as he was known by many, was born on August 11, 1924 in Reddell, Louisiana. A visitation for Mr. Fontenot will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 12 PM until 1 PM with a memorial service to follow at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte. Floyd was a Veteran of World War II, having proudly served in the United States Army. He was also a State Trooper at Troop K and for 8 years, served as Govenor Edwin Edwards' body guard. Floyd leaves behind his wife, Mary Majorie Manuel Fontenot of Ville Platte, sons, Brian Gibsons Fontenot and wife Maxine of Bayou Chicot and Charles Kirk Fontenot of Ville Platte, brother, Webster Manuel of Brownsville, TX., sister, Georgiana Manuel of Oakdale and grandchildren, Elijah Fontenot, Carly Rushing, Marla Rushing, Jake Rushing, Joseph Fontenot and Linzy Bertrand. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Jewel and Elvina Fontenot and grandchild, Gabriel Fontenot. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte, Louisiana.
