Mrs. Catherine J. Duplissey :


Mrs. Catherine J. Duplissey,aged 77 years,the second member of the
Fitzgerald family,died at her home July 24, 1935,after an illness of about
fourteen months.

Mrs.Duplissey was born in Caldwell parish in 1861. She was a daughter of
David and Youndy Fitzgerald.When a young girl,Mrs.Duplissey joined the old
Union Baptist Church,of Caldwell parish.She never had her membership
transferred after moving to Evangeline parish.

On August 1, 1880,she was married to Charles A. Duplissey,and had she lived
seven days longer,they would have been married 55 years.

Mrs.Duplissey was a kind and indulgent mother,a good housekeeper and an
affectionate friend.

Besides her husband,Charles A.Duplissey,82 years old, she is survived by the
following sons and daughters: S.D.Duplissey,C.W.Duplissey,and
C.Y.Duplissey,all of Ville Platte,La.,R.F.D. No.3; Mrs.J.D.Raborn,Baton
Rouge,La.; Mrs.C.L.Smith,Beaver,La.; Mrs.Eldeller Ratcliffe,
Mrs.A.W.Fontenot,and Mrs.J.J.Williamson,all of Ville Platte,La.,Route 3; One
step-daughter,Mrs.Mary Duplissey,Ville Platte,Route 3. She leaves 29 grand-
children, six great-grand-children and a host of friends.

She leaves one brother,J.E.Fitzgerald,of Cotton Plant,La.; two
sisters,Mrs.J.W.Bratton, of Clarks,La.;and Mrs.Ellen Howell,of Dodson,La.

She has,left us,but our loss is her eternal gain,as we know God doeth all
things well.

Her remains were laid to rest in the Duplissey Cemetery,July 25,1935,at
Norbrac,La.
