Creamer marykcreamer@yahoo.com October 30, 2023, 1:59 am source: St. Landry Clarion. (Opelousas, LA) Saturday, July 30, 1910, page 4 Died, at her daughter's, Mrs. Louis Veillon, at Chataignier, July 21, at 10 a. m., Mrs. Lastie Rozas (nee Adeliede Reed.) Mrs. Rozas died of weakness and heart failure due to old age. She was one of the oldest persons of this community and probably had the distinction of having the largest number of grand children in the parish. Mrs. Rozas was mother of ten children of which 5 are living: Mr. Lastie Rozas, Jr., Mr. Theophile Rozas, Mr. Theodule Rozas, Mrs. Louis Veillon, and Mrs. Privote Lafleur. She had 59 grand children living and, to the nearest count, has 178 great-grand children, and 13 great-great-grand children, or a to- total [sic] of 259 great, great-grand, and great-great-grand children. Mrs. Rozas was always known to be of a most loving and kind heart, and a mother and grand mother of her disposition and cares, we may be sure, had won the place that was waiting for her in Heaven. May she rest in peace and keep watch over the dear ones she left behind her.
