Morris, Jr., District Judge, Fifth Judicial District, Division "B", was appointed to fill a term which ends in November, 1971. Judge Morris was born in Rayville, Louisiana, on July 20, 1921, the son of John C. Morris and Carrie Hatch Morris. He graduated from Rayville High School and received his LL.B. degree from Louisiana State University. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, social fraternity; Phi Kappa Phi, honorary fraternity; Phi Delta Phi, legal fraternity; Omicron Delta Kappa, service and honorary fraternity; was editor-in-chief of the Louisiana Law Review, and a member of the Order of the Coif, scholastic society. Judge Morris was admitted to the bar on May 28, 1947, and practiced in Rayville, Louisiana, from 1947 to 1971. He was appointed attorney to assist the Inheritance Tax Collector for Richland Parish from 1957 to 1971, and was a member of the Richland Parish Welfare Board form 1948 to 1960. The Judge married the former Alice Heard on August 3, 1957, and they are the parents of four children: John III, Raymond, Richard and Lee. Judge Morris is Director of the Rayville United Methodist Church, and President of the Citizens Federal Savings & Loan Association of Richland Parish, Rayville, Louisiana. He is a veteran of World War II.
