McAfee Cemetery



McAfee is an abandoned cemetery about 

three miles west of Gilbert (and a mile on foot north 

of highway 128 towards Little Turkey Creek).



Lydia Evelyn McVay: unmarked  grave burial on 22 July 1911

five overgrown headstones with dates from 1895 to 1918 and 

the names McAfee, Breedlove, and Stephens -- nearly all of 

them women who died young.  

Her sister, my father's Aunt Rosie, also died young and  

was buried there in another unmarked grave.
