D.C. Barr, one of Louisiana's beloved ministers of the past. Sunday school and worship services were held in the Crowville School house at the crosssroads of Highway 17 and Highway 577. Sunday school was taught every Sunday afternoon about five o'clock. Those attending the school were of all faiths; thus it was called Union Sunday School. The first Sunday School superintendent was J.F. Rutledge; the first pastor was brother Thompson. Charter members of the church include the following: Mr. W.T. Donnell, Mrs. Annie Huff, Mrs. Lou Johnson, Mrs. Nolan Moore, and Mrs. R.S. Donnell. March 2, 1916, Mrs. Fannie L. Copeland, widow of James S. Copeland, donated one-half acre of land, the present site of the Crowville United Methodist Church, to the Crowville United Methodist Episcopal Church South. Mr. George Crow, an agent of Natchez, Mississippi, represented Mrs. Copeland in this transaction. The trustees named in the transfer of land were J.M. Walters, W.T. Donnell, O.L. Calhoun, and J.F. Rutledge. The one-half acre of land is located in the northeast corner of the four-acre lot sold by George Crow to J.S. Copeland December 28, 1899, in section 31T, 15N R 9E, being one acre east and west and one-half acre north and south. The Crowville Methodist Church on November 1, 1952, elected committees for planning, locating, anf financing a parsonage. The parsonage property was located at the present site of the home of Mrs. Lula Simmons. This land was purchased for $5.00 from Mr. Ellis G. Grube, who signed a deed to transfer the property to the Crowville Methodist Church on April 4, 1953. Representing Crowville Methodist Church was its Board of Trustees-- Chairman John W. Baker, T.M. Clark, Webb McManus, Marshall Wright, A. Lawrence, N.A. Miller, and A.L. McPhile. A parsonage was established for the church. Mrs. Mamie Bush willed her home to the Louisiana Methodist Orphanage in Ruston Louisiana. On November 6, 1956, G.M. Pomeroy suggested that Crowville Methodist Church parsonage be exchanged for the home of Mrs. Mamie Bush. A resolution was made on August 1957, by the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Methodist Orphanage, that an exchange of land with Crowville Methodist Church be made. The resolution was adopted on May 13, 1958. In the land transaction the church was represented by Chairman A.J. Collier, John C. Carson, Cecil W. Biggs, and Claude McManus.
