The church was established about 1860. The church was named Presbyterian Church on May 27, 1860. The word Union was added at the following meeting. Among the first members were Anna Jane Henderson, Mary Jane Henderson, T.S. Baskin, J.J. Prewitt, Ann Baskin, Malinda Fife, Margaret Baskin, Jane Dunn, Emily R. Henderson, Samuel Dunn, M.A. Prewitt, D.C. Henderson, Harriett L. Prewitt, John H. Prewitt, A.B. Cooper, A.McD Baskin, M.D., and Georg. R. Baskin. The first preacher of the church was D.C. Henderson. The first bench elders were John Prewitt, A.B. Cooper, and J.J. Prewitt. A.B. Cooper was the first clerk of session. At the beginning of 1862, a committee that consisted of Wm. Fife, Jno. H. Prewitt, and T.S. Baskin, was formed to discuss a graveyard. In the middle of 1862 meetings were suspended until 1866 due to the war. Sessions began again in October of 1866 and new elders of Jas. N. Baskin and Thomas S. Baskin were elected and ordained. Since that time church meetings have been held on a regular basis.
