To the honorable the Judge of the Eleventh Judicial District holding sessions in and for the parish of Franklin state of Louisiana. The petition of Samuel C. Trahern a resident of said parish and state, with due respect would represent unto your Honor that he has heretofore to wit in the year 185_ made in good faith a sale of land to Elmore Guice a citizen of said parish - of the south east quarter of south east quarter of section 13 thereto in Township thirteen (13) north of Range 7 seven East containing forty acres more or less in the District of Land north of Red River in this state, also all of the south west quarter of the south east quarter of same Section, Township and Range & district lying east of Brushy Bayou in this parish. But that the interest of his former wife, Zilpha Guice now deceased, now visited in her surviving children, to Sarah, V. A. Trahern & Samuel H. Trahern, by a former marriage with petitioner cannot be sold without due process of Law. Wherefore the premises considered petition prays that a family meeting be convoked before Stephen G. Cotton a notary public in this parish, to be composed of Fielding Guice, Abijah Guice, Aaron Roberts, Samuel H. Copeland, George Jones and M.A. Short relatives and friends of the minors aforesaid for the purpose of advising on the following matters & things touching the interests of said minors to wit: The Appointment of petitioner the father of said minors as natural Tutor. 2nd The appointment of Fielding Guice uncle to said minors as under Tutor or some other suitable. 3rd The interest of said minors having said sale confirmed and legally made to said Guice upon the Terms and conditions agreed upon in the sale above referred to. 4th to recommend and authorize the sale to be made by said Tutor when appointed and the consent also of the under Tutor when he shall have been appointed by Law. _____________(line lost in crease of page) said notary in conformity to the above petition as the law directs and for all other orders the cause may require. Cotton Notary Public in and for said Parish to convene a family meeting at the residence of Samuel C. Trahern in said Parish to be composed of Fielding Guice, Abijah Guice, Aaron Roberts, Samuel H. Copeland, George Jones and M.A. Short relatives and friends of the minors mentioned in the Petition to deliberate and advise touching the interests of said minors and on all matters contained in said Petition on or before the first Monday being the 2nd day of April next AD 1860 and that said members be cited to attend the same.
