At this time there was a flat to cross the river, later a low water bridge, then a high water bridge. This building had only two rooms to it. Only one was used to teach grades 1,2 and 3. The teacher was Mrs. Irene Gordy, in later years Mrs. Irene Brent. The heat was a wood stove and no electricity! The kids would go through the 3rd. grade there and some would go on to Winnsboro Elementary and some would go to Lone Pine. This was before the Ward Three School was built.
