The school was built around 1908 on land donated by Walter Scott. Children in the grades first through third were taught in this building before going on to Lone Pine School which was located across the Bayou Macon. Some of the teachers that taught at Fish Bayou were Sally Halley, Eda McDuff, Zadie L. Fletcher, Ella Betts, Ethel Butler, Rose Mae Evans, Frances Ford, Shepherd Reagan, and Frankie Simons Ferguson. Frankie Ferguson was the teacher when Fish Bayou closed in the early 1950s. The children began going to the new school, Ward III.
