History Of Winnsboro High School

Winnsboro High School was first established in 1892. 
The first location of the school was on the east end 
of Highland St. In later years it was moved to Warren St.
Due to a fire in 1937 a new school was built. It was 
constructed in 1938 on the northeast corner of the school grounds.

A new high school held open house Nov. 23, 1964. The new WHS was 
built at 1600 Glover Drive.

Winnsboro High School was approved by the State Department of
Education in 1906-1907. It was accredited by the Southern 
Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools in 1924-1925.
