A native of Arkansas, Andy Kincaid settled about two miles below Ft. Necessity where he acquired property still owned by members of the family. When the Civil War called away the flowers of Boeuf Prairie youth, including many middle aged men with families, only the aged, crippled, infirmed and women and children remained. The elder men of the community formed a Home Guard to protect the families and property against slave uprisings and renegades. Andy Kincaid, said to be "extremely handy with a gun and very courageous," played a big part in the formation of the Guard. He died while in the service of the Guard, leaving two sons, Lee and Willie, both to young to participate in the war. Lee Kincaid later went to Texas with John Matthews where they lived the life of rough and ready frontier cowboys. He later returned and married Laura Humble.
