James Barry, Private,  
Company E  8th Louisiana Infantry

James Barry was a native of Baltimore, MD. He was
a 45 year old teacher in Winnsboro, La. when he
enlisted in the 8th. Regiment in New Orleans on
June 19, 1861.

In May and June of 1862, he was sick in Richmond
and discharged on August 28, 1862 for chronic
reheumatism. His discharge shows that he was 52 years of age.
