Born Louisiana, occupation farmer, Res. Winnsboro, La., age when enlisted 21, single. John Scott was born about 1839 in Louisiana and was the brother of Robert and Henry Scott of the same Company. John was a single farmer in Winnsboro when he enlisted with his brother, Henry, at New Orleans on June 19th, 1861. John was present at all actions up to being killed in action at Gaines Mill, VA on June 27th, 1862. He was recorded by his comrades as " a gallant soldier ".
